Blue and White China

Things I love Thursdays: Blue and White China

I've been loving blue and white china since I was a child. It is so Northern Germany for me and reminds me of my relatives, especially my great granddad who had a vast collection of it and was an addicted tea drinker like me. And I also inherited his love for raisin bread in the morning with very strong Friesian tea, a strong mix of Assams. He has been living with us the last years of his life until he turned 98 and had his tea and bread ceremony every morning and I often prepared it for him before leaving for school.
I somehow seemed to forget a bit about this blue china when I moved South to live at Lake Constance. When we moved to Istanbul I started collecting the blue and white pendants you find in old mosques and I also bought some matching bowls.
Mexico then was not the Blue and White place and also not a tea place but once we came here back to Northern Germany I talked my parents into handing out the old china of my great granddad to me. Unfortunately there was not much left but my friend gele who is roaming the flea markets here every week end found a lot of pieces for me to have enough for all of us and a lot of visitors. And now we are hunting for some bigger plates and small bowls and a teapot. maybe we are lucky this week end...
